Parent Support

What Is The Parenting Support Group?

Bromley Y offers a Parent Group for parents with adolescents who live, work, or have a GP, within the borough of Bromley. The purpose of the group is to offer a supportive space for parents to explore difficulties by seeking guidance and support from the facilitators and each other.

Parent Groups run three times a year meeting weekly, for eight two-hour sessions. Each two hour session is divided, with the first hour as a space for parents to share and discuss any difficulties they are having around their adolescents, in confidence. Then there is a break for 15 minutes which is a time when parents can get to know each other. The last 45 minutes takes the form of a workshop on the topic of the evening. The focus is on relationship building between parent and adolescent and covers themes such as boundaries, communication, letting go, etc.

Parents are able to attend this group regardless of whether their adolescent attends Bromley Y. Currently, meetings are held on a Monday evening and there is a small charge for attendees.
